“When the Light Fades” is Daemon Rising’s bleak follow-up to their debut self-titled EP. Where the Daemon Rising EP was fast and relentless with a message of self-discovery through the left-hand path, “When the Light Fades” tackles other personal issues of hopelessness, nightmares, and flirtation with death. “The [Daemon Rising] EP was written on emotion; the music just poured out straight from my soul,” says Baal [songwriter/frontman]. “While working on a full-length follow up, there were many different emotions leaking into the songs which caused a lot of inconsistency in the music as well as in the lyrics and it just didn’t flow. Life continued and in the midst of a series of anxiety attacks, a new group of songs were written and pieced together on the spot. This is what you hear on ‘When the Light Fades.’” Keeping some of the discomforting elements heard on the debut while delving into a more melodic atmosphere, “When the Light Fades” is not for the faint of heart.
